Poker Profiles: John Hennigan
John Hennigan is a Philadelphia native who switched from city to city and from game to game.
John was a successful Pool hustler in Philly. He learned the ins and outs of Pool in his humble home town. His established skills at the billiard table made him a member of a professional Pool circuit. In no time that he turned pro, Poker took his attention away from the cue balls. This is how he started his current Poker career.
In between Pool games and betting activities, John found a better way to gamble. That is, at the Poker table. After playing many games during breaks from his main sport, he realized that Poker stands a potential to keep him wealthy enough. And it did!
john's earliest success was finishing in the money at the World Series of Poker Main Event in 1999. In 2002, he appeared at the final table of the WSOP $1,500 Seven Card Stud event and won a bracelet at a $2,000 H.O.R.S.E event four days later. John won his other WSOP bracelet two years later, in 2004. He defeated David Chiu, James McManus, and T.J. Cloutier for the jackpot of the $5,000 Limit Hold'em event to claim the glitzy distinction. John made two more final tables at the WSOP in 2005 coming out at the second place of the $5,000 2 to 7 Draw Lowball event.
John also made successful takes at World Poker Tour events. He finished fourth during season 1 and topple that off with a championship in 2007. John's first WPT title was from the Winter Poker Open, earning him no less than $1.6 million fortune. The only other prestigious tourney that John has been into aside from WSOP and WPT is at The United States Poker Championship where he made successful finishes in 2002 and 2003. He finished first and fifth respectively.
Although John prefers to keep a low key life, he cannot possibly manage to do so with all the successes he has earned. His appearance at televised games would make that feat even harder to achieve. There could be nothing much about John's personal life that is available online but his previous opponents sure have enough things to say about him. Gavin Smith and Daniel Negreanu, two of the most successful Poker professionals in the world, have only good things to say about John. Their praises about the guy's kind of play are documented and have reached the shores as well.
